Lingo is a subsidiary of famous Primus Communications. They may not be as large as Vonage,, however there is a reason VoIP Judge rates their area codes as their greatest strength: Lingo offers international area codes! Lingo are one of the few major VoIP companies to offer US subscribers the ability to have phone numbers in many foreign countries. The very best most competitors offer is a few phone numbers in Canada or Mexico.
Lingo offers area codes in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, and the UK. That means you could be living in the US, and when one of those countries calls the number you purchased, it would count as a local call!
So with Lingo you could have a primary phone number for the USA, and to add one of the above countries as a secondary number is just $10. Lingo also gives free calling not only to Canada, but Lingo offers free calling to Western Europe as well!
Some of Lingo's other plans include a $34.95 unlimited Asia calling, and a $49.95
As far as pricing goes, it's truly sad to see Lingo not being as competitive as it should be. Unless you are interested in one of the international area codes, Lingo is just too pricy. $40 activation, and a $19.95 rate for the unlimited monthly plan, is more expensive than even larger companies SunRocket and ViaTalk. It is worthy to note that their actual international rates are not the best, either, but Lingo's international area code availability is their sole most outstanding feature.
